My first Wedding Cake!! *big smiles*
I was so excited when I got the call to make my first wedding cake!! Since it was about a month ago, it was really hard for me to keep my composure and not make it that same week!! haha. I've been waiting for this opportunity for a while, and I didn't want to go through all the trouble for just a dummy cake you know. I finished it yesterday and just delivered it about an hr ago =) I really hope I get to make more soon =)
The only sad part of it all, is that I couldn't find my camera so had to use my iPhone to take the pic. The lighting isn't the greatest at my house, so I got stuck with a dark pic. I thought maybe iphoto would help me, but it wasn't very much..oh well...the cake looked nice and bright in person..hehe..

Baby Cupcakes
I know I've been horrible at this, but I've been quite busy so far with school and work..EITHER WAY enough excuses. lol. Here are some fun cupcakes I made for our SS friend Sarah and her baby Brodey. We had a great time. I got the idea off the internet. They were French Vanilla cups with a Chocolate mousse filling. yum.

New Identity
Ok Ok, I know I've been a total slacker....It's been a while since I've written, and made a couple of new cakes =) I'll do my best to catch this site up, and hopefully continue to post as I make each cake.
I can say school will definitely take free time away like nothing else. Between school and work, I should be pretty busy this coming Fall semester, but I'm so excited.
On a better note, I've changed the identity of my small business, I'm so excited!! I thought Corby Designs was so cute when I came up with it, but it slowly started getting old when I would hand out my business card and people would say "are you a graphic designer?" LOL..umm yes I am, but this card is for cakes...hence the cake in the card..lol....I HAD TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! so the new name my hubby and I came up with is Corby's Tasty Cakes =) along with the new name of course comes the new site, and the new Facebook page, and of course business cards. I've done 2 of the 3, but the business cards are SOON to come =)
Check out the new site and Facebook pages!!
Keep looking new cakes pics to come =)

It's been a while....ALWAYS fun to come back=)
With all the craziness of holidays, school, and my hubby coming home...IT'S BEEN A WHILE since I had the chance to make any cakes... So I was super excited last week when I was making TWO!! =)
The first was for our friends Michelle and Chris' daughter CJ. She was turning one. =) The theme of course it's a bit obvious. lol. The cake was vanilla with vanilla butter cream. (CJ's also) Oh the joys of cutting each little head...I need to find a stamp maker =) lol.
I had never made a mini cake so I wanted to experiment..and...I LOVED IT!!!!! I almost kept the tiny one for myself...so cute..heheh...

The second cake was for my hubby!!! He's airforce, and he had been deployed for about 6 months, so it was DEFINITELY HIS TIME!! heheh...
I think this is my favorite cake so far!! Vanilla bean cake with raspberry filling and white chocolate buttercream...and of course chocolate covered strawberries!!! =) It turned out great (logo and all) again I need a stamp maker. LOL. We had it for his welcome home party, and it was a huge hit!! ..
So glad to have you home babe!! I love you!!
can't wait till the next one!

Welcome Home "A" Troop!! =)
My husband's troop (except my hubby =(.....still waiting on him) came home in November, so we wanted to throw them a "welcome home" party. We had the idea of "poker night" (thanks Mara). So we decorated with a card theme everywhere, and I made the cake to match our theme of course =)
I was so glad I was able to help out, even though my hubby's not home yet. I had a lot of fun at the party, and making the cake =) A TROOP ROCKS!!
Cake Info: 6" Top cake was chocolate flavor with bavarian cream filling. The bottom was 8" yellow cake with strawberry filling. All covered in vanilla buttercream & fondant decorations.

The first challenge =)
So far I've been making one cake at a time, and it's been pretty fun, however on Wednesday I got a call asking for a cake for Thursday AM, and I already had another scheduled for Thursday PM.. so I rose to the challenge =) I was able to work out, make the cakes, run to school to talk to my advisor, decorate, exercise again, go to school again...(oh yeah fit work on there also) AND FINISHED both of them on time =)
The first one was for Chiara. She picked the color blue, and she wanted some items from my other cakes. (That polka-dot bow is becoming very popular =) hehe) I was able to fit everything she wanted, and I added a bit or personalization. =) The cake was vanilla with strawberry filling and butter cream icing.

The second was for my friend's son Brody. He was turning 5 yesterday =) When we asked him what he wanted, he said he wanted The Hulk, chocolate cake, and green frosting!!! =) and so I did =)
His cake was Chocolate with vanilla frosting in the middle, and green icing. I had so many ideas for the cake, but when I saw the fists...(and knowing that he has them as well) I thought it would be the best choice. He absolutely loved it, and wanted to play with the fist..hehe..
Enjoying so much making these cakes!!! =)

Katie's Birthday
Kathy's daughter's birthday was this past weekend, and I was honored to make her cake. I wanted to personalize it a bit, so I added a bow with the "K"on it for Katie's name. She loved it! =) When I went to go deliver it, Katie's words "This is perfect!!" totally made my day =) I love making people happy, and with something edible, even better!!! LOL =)
The cake was yellow cake with strawberry filling, buttercream icing, and it was covered in fondant.
